LOST! – Craft Mojo, reward offered

craft

This year I seem to have lost my craft mojo. If you’re a regular reader of this blog you might have noticed that all my posts in 2013 have been about fashion, visiting places and food. I’m not sure if it’s the long dark days, that I ‘overcrafted’ last year, or that living in a small, rented flat there’s only so much I can produce and find room for. I’ve never seen the point of craft for craft’s sake: felt turkeys and rag dolls are not for me, I like to make things that improve my environment or entertain others.

Last year I upcycled some furniture, re-covered a footstool, made bunting for my sister’s hen do and a chocolate Christmas wreath.

Can you help me find my mojo? Suggestions of inspiration places to visit for inspiration are welcome but more than that I need ideas for things I can make at home e.g. paint finishes I could try on some of the furniture that’s starting to look old, perhaps things I can wear, or books I can read. The prize for the best suggestion will be a pile of craft books so leave your comments below and I’ll pick a winner next week.

    Hi Hannah,

I feel your pain – I really struggled to find any inspiration in January/February and it’s only now that I’m finding some new projects to get excited about.

Have you thought about learning to knit? (If you don’t already). You could make clothes/accessories or home items. I got a book for Christmas called The Knitting Book (http://www.amazon.co.uk/The-Knitting-Book-Frederica-Patmore/dp/1405368039/ref=sr_1_9?ie=UTF8&qid=1362742728&sr=8-9) which is great for starters and has some lovely patterns in there. It could be ideal.

Good luck finding your craft mojo! :)

I did try knitting last year, the scarf I knitted is still on the needles because I never learnt how to cast off! Perhaps I should revisit it. Thanks for the suggestion.

I am going to help you cast that baby off next Monday. Get that knitting out!

I lost my knitting mojo sometime last year after having spent hours on a few lovely projects. So instead I made one of these, fairly quick, simple, really useful and got me back into the spirit! http://mylittlemancreations.blogspot.co.uk/2012/12/memo-board.html

Ooh it’s like Pinterest in the real world! Thanks Julia, good idea.

I am having exactly the opposite problem and have recently become over-mojo’d!! I am loving crafting and have so much inspiration my Pinterest is going mad and I don’t have enough time to do it all! These – http://pinterest.com/OliveDragonfly/odcc/ are all the ideas myself and others are having for future craft club meetings (we’ve only had one so far but are very excited, where do you live?) And I’ve been challenging myself with doing more pins here http://pinterest.com/OliveDragonfly/pinitdoit-2013/ and here http://pinterest.com/OliveDragonfly/pinneditdidit/ (not just crafts as I can’t help pinning ALL THE THINGS!)

I’m having so much fun, hope those links help you find an idea or 2, or 100! :)

Thank you Bex, I have just been on a repinning frenzy and will come back to it tomorrow when I have more time. I’ve already seen at least five things I’d like to try!

Craft club is a great idea. The craft group we joined with h a couple of weeks ago to make flower head dresses was really inpiring. I live in London, where are you?
