Bathroom renovation: After

13 Mar

In February, I had the Bathroom renovation: Before photos, now it’s time for the Bathroom renovation: After pics! We went away at the end of February, and were lucky to find a builder that we really trusted, who we felt was going to charge a fair amount. We left it entirely in his hands, along with a very rough sketch of what we wanted and where we wanted it. When we got back from holiday, it was all complete! We are still waiting for a shower screen to go in (we weren’t sure if we were going to have one), but I couldn’t wait to share the pictures!

Changing the tiles to white with grey grouting on the walls, and grey with white grouting on the floor has significantly brightened up the room. Plus, we have added so much storage, the whole room feels much cleaner and fresher.

Miracle! Shelves above the bath mean everything is at hand height and the other surfaces are kept totally clear.

The addition of this second mirrored cabinet is brilliant – the mirror makes the room feel brighter and it has given me a place to put my bits and bobs.

When I was unpacking all my make-up, I realised loads of it was either out of date or absolutely never worn, so I did a massive cull. Now this is my totally organised side of the mirrored cabinet. All of my make-up and face creams and most of my hair products). I can SEE everything. I love it.

I am so, so happy with how it has turned out. We brought down the price where we could, choosing our mirrors and sink from IKEA, and doing a lot of price comparison on the tiles, radiator and bathtub. We went out and bought all of the materials ourselves, so that we didn’t face any mark-up or collection fee on those, which builders often charge. We also did some of the work ourselves when we came back from holiday to cut down on costs – so we painted the walls and put up the shelves and mirror above the sink.

So – one step closer to the flat being finished off. The coffers are currently totally bare (like, please don’t let there be any kind of emergency bill, bare), so even if it isn’t totally finished, I think we might be finished for a little while! Time to start saving again…

What do you think? He he – I know some people are going to be astounded that is, literally, my entire make-up collection.

I love these white tiles, they’re so fresh and clean looking. They also remind me of Carrie Bradshaw’s bathroom in SATC, very cool.
